BRITISH CHAMPS RESULTS 17th and 18th Feb 2007 Manchester men have never qualified for the finals of the British Champs but went very close to their first qualification at MAC this weekend. having beaten Poly Manchester lead throughout the game until Cheltenham took the lead for the first time just four minutes from full time. Manchester were unable to get back into the game eventually losing. Just two hrs later Manchester played Porty in the group decider. trailing throughout the game the locals were down 11-10 with 1.40 left on the clock, but pushing for another goal left Manchester defensively vulnerable and two breakaway goals gave the game to Porty 13-10. Final results Manchester 11-7 Poly, Manchester 9-10 Cheltenham, Manchester 10-13 Portobello,
Manchester boys in PAN PAC final GB juniors won a dramatic semi final against New Zealand to gain a final place in the PAN PAC games. Manchester players Brett Perkins and Richard Lawlor played a significant part in the teams success. Perkins scoring twice and Lawlor once in a dramatic semi final which was only decided on a penalty shoot out. At full time the score was 11-11 Lawlor scoring the equalizing goal in the 4th period. After extra time the score was 12-12 and so to penalties. Perkins was up to take the fourth penalty but was not needed as GB scored 3 to NZ 0 to make the final score 15-12. GB went on to lose in the final to a very strong Australian side results GB 10 - 10 USA GB 8 - 8 NZ GB 9 - 9 CAN SEMI GB 15 - 12 NZ FINAL GB 5 - 15 AUS
Mens National League Div 1 Top 5 A depleted Manchester side managed just one point in the final weekend of national league in Aldershot. Finishing the season 4th. This represents the highest position in the clubs history. Captain Kevin Williams commented "its been a great season for us finishing 4th is another great step forward in our development".
